Female students do research - the fall university at the TUM
Science and Technology – exciting, challenging and inspiring – this is how you will experience the TUM fall university.
Fall University 2010
The Program for the Department of Informatics:
INF1: Artificial Intelligence - How can the computer learn?
Date: 02.11.2010 - 04.11.2010
Time: 9:30 am -5:00 pm
Location: TUM Garching, Building for the Department of Informatics and of Mathematics, Boltzmannstr. 3, Magistrale at the gate house
Code: INF1
Description:
Computers only carry out what one has entered. Nevertheless computers can learn and thus become more "intelligent". How? You will find out in this project via the game MatChes. First you will develop the game and then you will compete against the computer. You will program the game in such a way that the computer can learn from its mistakes. He should not select moves again that had once previously led to failure. In this manner, the computer will progressively become more "intelligent" and could even will all the games in the end. You will create the appearance of the game, i.e. the tokens or the direction of moves. You don't need programming skills – a clear structuring of your ideas and fun and creativity for the implementation of your assignment is the main thing! During the project you will have the opportunity to talk to students, student advisors and computer scientists from the university and from industry and you will also have the opportunity to attend a lecture.
INF2 Software Development with "AntMe!"
Date: 02-03.11.2010, 9:30 am -3:00 pm
Venue: TUM Garching, Department of Mathematics and Informatics building, Boltzmannstr. 3, Magistrale at the gate house
Learning programming differently for once: With "AntMe!" we create ants that are hunting for food in a virtual forest and that need to defend themselves against ameisenvertilgenden beetles. We develop and program the algorithm ourselves with which the behaviour of the ants is controlled. This way you could for example, establish how your ants carry apples and sugar to their structure, defend themselves against hungry beatles or react to different occurences. With "AntMe!" the programming of artificial intelligence (künstlichen Intelligenz (KI)) is the main principle. In an interesting and easily understandable manner you will learn to develope software with object-oriented programming language C# as well as the development and the course of computer games and have a lot of fun in the process.
