The Department of Informatics of Technische Universität München (TUM) is one of the biggest and most renowned departments of informatics in Germany. With more than 30 professors you can find a competent contact partner for any subject related to computer science.

Rankings and surveys
In the Shanghai Ranking TUM has always been ranked among the best universities in Germany. In the 2009 Computer Science Ranking TUM occupied place 49, best German university.
In the nation-wide Ranking of CHE (Center for Higher Education Development) the Department of Informatics belongs to the top group in most categories, e.g. in reputation for studies and teaching and in reputation for research, but also in the student's opinion on our job market preparation.
In a survey among alumni of our Department carried out in 2005, nearly 90% of the polled alumni declared to choose TUM if they had to decide again where to study computer science. More than half of them said that their study program at TUM was important or very important for their career.
Jobs and Legal Status
Munich and its immediate surroundings rank among the most important IT- and high-tech regions worldwide. Students therefore can profit from the close cooperation between the Department and important firms.
Non European students are allowed to work 90 days in industry per year and additionally 20h per week as research assistants. For EU students there are even less restrictions.
After finishing their studies, they can stay in Germany for one year to search for a job or start a PhD. At the moment, students usually start working in IT immediately after graduating.

Technische Universität München has more than 30.000 students. 25% of students at our Department come from abroad. The Department of Informatics is located on the Campus of Garching, by subway 25 minutes away from the center of the city.
