And after two years you can obtain your master’s degree, which will increase your career opportunities, as a master’s degree from an elite university is a stepping stone to leading positions in industry as well as in academia. In a university ranking published in 2009 by the German magazines WirtschaftsWoche, Junge Karriere and Handelsblatt, 31.7% of polled personnel managers were convinced that the TUM Informatics department trains the best Informatics students.

But master’s courses of study are not only sought after by TUM students. Many graduates from other universities see  the advantages and opt for the TUM.

The Greater Munich area is one of the most important business locations for information and communication technologies. Accordingly, there exists a multitude of ties between the TUM Informatics department and industry. Professors cooperate with companies from the IT sector and sectors such as the automobile industry, medical engineering and the service sector who use IT applications in a variety of projects. Graduate students profit from these close ties: in research projects or for their master’s thesis students get a glimpse of professional routine early on.
