Automotive Software Engineering (Software Engineering for Software in Automobiles)

The non-consecutive research-oriented Master course of study "Automotive Software Engineering" will be offered as of the  2009/10 winter semester.

Software as Innovation Driver in Automobiles

The significance of software-based functioning in automobiles has consistently grown in the last three decades. New types of functions have dramatically changed with regard to Security, Comfort and Assistance. Along with this a fundamental change in the development process,  must be aligned with the fact that nearly all parts of an automobile incorporate networked, software-based functionality. The strong dependence between the functions leads to completely new Software and Systems Engineering requirements.

Close partnership between Research and Industry

The fast technical advancement with its quick changing dynamic calls for the tight cooperation between research and industrial practice in order to quickly recognize and act on the complex research questions found in industrial practice and to quickly validate and implement research resolution methods.

Master of Automotive Software Engineering

Compared to the Bachelor of Informatics course of study, the  Master of Automotive Software Engineering course of study includes a course specialization in the Automobile technology application field , while topics from Informatics, Mechatronics, Electrical engineering and Information technology, and  Economics are linked. Thereby, programming languages, modelling technologies, tools and processes could more intensively be examined and how they in practice, during the implementation of software intensive systems, could be used in automobiles.

Automotive specialists are much sought-after

A limiting factor for the industry has up to now been a deficit in highly skilled labor for the creation and implementation of new processes and methods. The industry's great need for excellently trained engineers with widespread methods and a corresponding knowledge of the domain, will systematically be addressed through this Master course of study.
