Promotion of outstanding students at the TUM
The TU München promotes the best 1-2 percent of its students in a special programme. Scholarship holders of the German National Academic Foundation or of the Max-Weber-Programme could additionally apply here. The support lasts two years and can be extended. It comprises the following elements:
- Interview with Professors from the Faculty of Informatics for the observation and organisation of the study process. In this context a support profile will be established to support a selective promotion among other things.
- Information about external promotion possibilities as well as scholarships and
assistance with the application. - Support with the selection and application of studies, research and practical training
stays in Germany and abroad in the fields of science and economics. - Participation in the development of studies in order to enhance the quality of studies
from the standpoint of the intellectually gifted. - Early introduction to research projects, special seminars and similar continuing
educational events for the students given support. These events are oriented to the
support programs organised by the mentor. - Acceptance in the main support program for outstanding students at the TUM with a
wide range of course offerings as described in points 7 and 8.
- Participation in “Personaility Development Seminars” (Kontaktseminaren), with
representatives from the fields of economics and public life. - Participation in high level weekend seminars and holiday academies etc. for personal
and career development.

The acceptance for mentoring in our faculty is based on the results of the aptitude test, grades at the TUM or extraordinary contributions to faculty work. In addition, a written description of academic and career goals is required. A selection interview will also take place.
