Application for the Master's Program Informatics
Who can apply?
Applicants to the Master of Informatics must have a Bachelor in Informatics or in a similar subject. We will verify the equivalence of your degree against our Bachelor of Informatics.
If a few courses are missing, they may be imposed to you as bridging courses equal to a maximum of up to 30 credits. Unfortunately you may not be admitted if you require more than 30 credits for the degrees to be equivalent.
When can I apply?
For the winter semester: March 1 - May 31
For the summer semester: September 1 - November 30
How do I apply?
Your application consists of two parts:
1. Application via our web portal TUMonline, then
2. Send your documents via post to the Admissions Office
Both parts must be completed before the end of the application deadline.
More information can be found here.

The aptitude test
1st stage - your documents are checked
Your documents are checked for validity by our Admissions Office and are then forwarded to the Department of Informatics for the aptitude test. A commission evaluates them and decides whether
- you are directly admitted to the program,
- you are invited for an interview with a professor (2nd stage)
- you will presumably not be able to fulfill the requirements of stage 2 and will not be admitted.
2nd stage - the interview
Some applicants may be invited for an interview at the Department of Informatics in Garching. In some cases (e.g. you are an international applicant living abroad), an interview by phone is possible. Further information can be found here.

You will get enrolled autmatically after you have accepted the study place, submitted all documents and paid the tuition fee. For students coming from outside EU, best is to do all this once you have arrived here!
