IT Services

The IT Service Group RBG provides a variety of innovative IT services for the faculties Mathematics and Informatics. Our service portfolio covers a wide range of client, server and network services. We operate an innovative IT infrastructure which is based strongly on virtualization mechanisms. Its innovation results on the outcome and findings of the served faculties.   

All users are managed via a central identity management system. You easily can get your universal informatics account allowing access to a variety of services like E-Mail, Wiki and Virtual Desktops. We are also part of the DFN certification hierarchie and operate an own registration authority. This provides you with an X.509 cetrificate for a variety of security services.

Client

In the area of client management wie offer cost-effective thin clients and a highly scalable virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). With that we operate for example 150 virtual desktop clients for our students in the computer hall. In case that physical computers are required on-site, we also provide standard configurations for LINUX and Windows workstations.

Server

In the server area we offer scalable virtual server machines with opreating systems Ubuntu or Windows Server 2008. These servers will be operated on a cluster infrastructure, which provides high availability and stability. For individual configurations we also provide server housing  with climate control and uninterrupted power supply. 

Networks

At MI-building we operate the overall fiber optic network, which provides a data rate of 1 GBit for each office. Network access information like IP addresses, MAC addresses, etc. can be administered centrally for all authorized persones. Our partner, the Leibnitz Rechenzentrum, provides the door to the "Münchner Wissenschaftsnetz MWN". For your convenience and flexibility we also operate WLAN access points within the whole MI-building.
