Retirement Ceremony for Dr. Angelika Reiser
Thursday, September 20th, 2018, Department of Informatics, Boltzmannstr. 3, 85748 Garching (lecture hall 2)
Since 1977 Dr. Angelika Reiser has left her imprints at the studies in informatics at the TUM. She started her professional career as a doctoral candidate at the Chair for Data Base Systems (I3) of Prof. Rudolf Bayer. There she conducted the data base practical course over many decades. Under the new chair holder Prof. Alfons Kemper Dr. Reiser has given a data base lecture für non-IT students during the last years. In 1982 after gaining her doctorate she took over the position of a student advisor in our department. In 1988 she established the first student exchange partnership with Newcastle upon Tyne.
In 1993 Dr. Reiser played a decisive role in the development of ProLehre, the TUM training program for all lecturers which has substantially improved and further modernizes the teaching quality. From 1995 until 1997 she was the TUM’s women’s representative.
In a much more male-dominated field like informatics Dr. Angelika Reiser not only introduced numerous formats for female students and pupils, but made sure that equal opportunity plays a role within the whole organisation of study. As the department’s international relations official she also implemented diversity by creating important conditions for the sucess of international students. In November 2017 the Bavarian Minister of Science has honored Mrs. Reiser with the Prize for Excellence in Teaching.
The festive retirement ceremony with invited guests takes place from 1.00 p.m. to 2.00 p.m. in lecture hall 2 at the Department of Informatics. The speakers, inter alia, are Prof. Hans-Joachim Bungartz, Dean, Prof. Helmut Seidl, Dean of Studies, Prof. Rudolf Bayer (Chair for Data Base Systems, I3) and Dr. Hannemor Keidel, former TUM Vice President for Diversity & Talent Management / International Relations. Subsequently there is a get-together in the department’s main hall.
