Werner Strohmayr was a member of the Bayerischen Landesbank, München board of directors from 1987 until his retirement.

He began his professional career as a systems analyst at Allianz Life in Stuttgart in 1970. As of October 1972 he took on the same position at Siemens AG, Munich and a year later became the head of the departmnet at the Bavarian Mortgage and Exchange Bank Ltd. (Bayerischen Hypotheken- und Wechselbank AG) in Munich. In 1989 he moved on to the Alliance Insurance Company Ltd. (Allianz Versicherungs AG) in Munich.
