Elastic CAE Workflows for Hybrid Cloud

BMW Group offers a PhD position in Munich in the cross section of computer-aided engineering (CAE), cloud computing and predictive analysis in cooperation with Prof. Michael Gerndt at the Chair for Computer Architecture and Parallel Systems.

 

What awaits you?

  • The work will focus on development of a scheduling concept that can be used across on-premesis cluster and cloud environments.
  • The concept will be based on representing business requirements in form of a multi-objective problem to be solved using predictive optimization algorithms. The goal is to bring the developed concept into day-to-day car development processes in BMW.
  • Therefore, a close collaboration with BMW IT and engineering departments as well as partner research institutes is mandatory.

 

What should you bring along? 

  • Strong background in cloud computing (AWS and MS Azure in particular).
  • Good experience with numerical simulation and predictive analysis tools.
  • Good experience in programming (e.g. C++, Python) and development tools.
  • Experience with SaaS and IaaS concepts.
  • Knowledge of High-performance computing (HPC) cluster hardware and infrastructure.

Duration: 36 months.

Working hours: full-time
