Bioinformatics deals with informatics problems that result from the utilization of new work techniques and a rapidly growing database in life sciences. Bioinformatics is gaining in importance in medicine and in pharmaceutical research.
Successes in modern biological research such as for example the Human-Genom-Projekt, are based more and more on information from data banks that support the generation of new laboratory results. An outstanding application area for modern bioinformatics is opening up due to the exponential growth in biological data generated through national and international research projects.
