Measures to improve teaching and general study conditions

  • Expansion of Tutorial Services: Assignment of student tutors for exercise groups, coaches, preparation courses and programming projects.
  • Implementation of a student InfopointA central contact point has been established for students looking for answers to general organizational questions. Need for information will be satisfied immediately on-site. Competent consultation or at least advice about a contact person will be given.
  • Personnel reinforcement of the Office of Academic Affairs (Study Coordinator): The Dean of Studies should be supported by the personnel reinforcement of the Office of Academic Affairs. In addition to tasks that directly relieve the Dean of Studies, other measures are to be implemented to improve service for students.
  • Reinforcement of the Academic Advisory ServiceThe Academic Advising Team has been reinforced with additional staff. The Academic Advisory Service's business hours have been extended, information material has been created and information presentations have been organized.
  • Expansion of Internationalization and Integration: These measures promote stays abroad for TUM students as well as better integration of international students.
  • Improvement of Introduction Days: Financing of T-shirts for the SET-tutors in order to increase the recognizability for the freshmen during the SET, as well as the printing of information booklets and flyers in German and English.
  • Improvement of Teaching Materials and the Script SituationExpansion and financing of the creation of new scripts/lecture notes or innovative new teaching materials and printing of existing scripts/lecture notes.
  • Accompanying German Language CoursesA German language course (Sprachtutorium) for the duration of the term has been established for international students. It meets the needs of this target group and serves to support the improvement of the technical language competence. 
  • German Matters program for English speaking Master's students: German Matters is a special German language learning program designed for English speaking Master's students with no prior German knowledge. Within three semesters students will obtain a solid intermediate level of German (B1.2 level). The program is very intensive and demanding and only a limited number of students can be admitted.
  • Improvement of the room and time planning of courses and examinations through the use of administrative staff: The service for the students should be improved by the personnel reinforcement of the Office of Academic Affairs. In addition to supporting lecture planning, the planning of tutor groups and exam dates is to be optimized, especially in view of the increasingly scarce space resources.
  • Officer for Quality Assurance Measures and Cross-Sectional Tasks in the Area of Study and Teaching: Well-formulated and up-to-date course documents are important prerequisites for good teaching according to the TUM quality standard. Competence should be bundled at the department in order to support those responsible for courses and modules in formulating, maintaining and updating these documents. In addition, the Officer for Quality Assurance Measures and Cross-Sectional Tasks in the Area of Study and Teaching is available to answer questions about the use of Tuition Substitution Funds. In addition, cross-sectional tasks in the area of ​​study and examination administration are to be taken on.
  • Representative for the optimal use of TUMonline in Study and Teaching at the Department of Informatics (Studium.IN@TUMOnline): TUMonline is to be constantly maintained, further developed and improved; in examination and course management, processes are to be optimized, modeling updated, revised and expanded, and requirements for improving the system are to be developed.
  • Support of required courses in the bachelor's degree and prerequisite courses.
  • Additional staff to reinforce teaching.
  • Support in advising applicants and handling the aptitude test for master's degree programs.
  • Advising and management of the two part-time Master's in Informatics programs.
  • Support for the operation of the stable matching system.
  • Personnel support of the Dean of Studies (Officers of the Dean of Studies) - support and improvement of system-supported evaluation, blended learning and new technical teaching formats - keyword digital media and tools: Through the personnel support of the Dean of Studies through the Officers of the Dean of Studies, among other things, the proven use of EvaSys as a web-based, decentralized tool for creating, conducting and administering surveys at the Department of Informatics for lecturers and students as well as the evaluation of the data and the close cooperation with the TUM Center for Study and Teaching, the Officer for Quality Assurance Measures and Cross-Sectional Tasks in the Area of Study and Teaching and the MPI student council shall be maintained and further improved. In addition, lecturers, on request, are to be advised, supported and put in touch with the right contacts when it comes to improving their teaching, learning and examination forms, using blended learning and new technical teaching formats, as well as using other media services.
  • Personnel reinforcement of the RBG multimedia group: The media technology of the Department of Informatics and the rooms used by it, as well as the advice and technical support for lecturers, should be constantly maintained, further developed and improved in order to continuously improve and expand both classic presence formats and digital teaching formats. This requires a corresponding specialist. The aim of this measure is to make the technical equipment available to lecturers in order to be able to offer the students of the department innovative teaching in a quality beyond the normal level.
  • Joint measure: Academic Affairs Coordinator of the Academic Office of the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology (CIT): The Academic Affairs Coordinator is to support the Deans of Studies and the heads of the current Offices of Academic Affairs of the Departments EI, MA and IN in merging the departmental structures and then in the ongoing operation of the CIT the processes to be redesigned organize in the field of study and teaching.
