As of October 1, 2022, the Department of Informatics is part of the School of Computation, Information and Technology (CIT). This website will be shut down on March 31, 2023. The content is in the process of being moved to the CIT websites.

Upon completion of your Master's degree – starting your Ph.D.

The Ph.D. is your entry ticket towards an academic career or business leadership. Due to the number of professorships the TUM´s Informatics Department offers a great variety of research topics. Furthermore the department is quite experienced. A recent university ranking with a focus on research (CHE research ranking 2009) revealed that, in comparison to other German universities, TUM’s Informatics Department is leading in terms of annual numbers of completed Ph.D. projects. Consequently the TUM Informatics Department is at the top level in this ranking and is one of the strongest informatics departments in Germany in the field of research.
