Prof. Alfons Kemper, holder of the Chair for Database Systems, has been named a Fellow by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). With this, the ACM recognizes his outstanding contributions to database system developments. Kemper's research focuses on optimization concepts for distributed information structures, data integration methods and main memory-based database systems.
The Fellow award is the ACM's most prestigious membership degree. It is awarded annually to the top 1% of ACM members who distinguish themselves through their work and dedication to the computer science community. Fellows are nominated by their peers and confirmed by a high-level selection committee.
