EURO Excellence in Practice Award 2018 for Prof. M. Bichler & Team
Reallocation of Fishery Access Rights via a Combinatorial Exchange
A project at the chair of Decision Sciences & Systems (Prof. Martin Bichler) together with the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) in New South Wales and the University of New South Wales facilitated the reallocation of catch shares among 600 fishers. It is the largest combinatorial exchange organized to date and the first market-based approach to address a challenging policy problem fisheries face world-wide. The project won the EURO Exellence in Practice Award and was a runner-up for the INFORMS Daniel H. Wagner Prize.
