Application – M.Sc. Biomedical Computing

Eligibility

Students who hold a bachelor's degree in informatics/computer science, mathematics, physics or electrical, mechanical and computer engineering (or a related subject) are eligible to apply. Ideally, students should have completed their bachelor's degree no more than two years prior to their application.
Please check our general eligibility requirements for Master's programs (GRE etc.).

Topics of the scientific essay

The scientific essay/paper, submitted along with the online application, should be approximately 1,000 words in length and has to be written in English. Your scientific paper/essay should introduce the topic, discuss it, and lead to a logical conclusion. Please use relevant data and scientific literature to support your argumentation. Ideas that are not your own must be identified as such! The term "essay" can be misleading - we require a scientific paper with proper citation! Your sources of information must be listed at the end. The essay must be your own work and you should write it without any assistance.

Applicants must choose one of the following topics:

Topic 1:
10 Years Beyond: The Role of Biomedical Computing in Future Health Care

Topic 2:
How can Images Improve Medical Workflow?

Topic 3:
Can AI Replace Physicians?

Topic 4:
Computer-Aided Diagnosis: Boon or Bane?

Important Dates and Deadlines

This program begins in the winter semester only.

Online application and submission of required documents for the winter semester 2020/21:
January 1 – March 31: recommended deadline for applicants who need a visa 
January 1 – June 30: compulsory application deadline (one-time extension due to the coronavirus pandemic)

Admissions decisions made, interview invitations sent via e-mail:
March – July

Interviews in Garching and telephone interviews:
July 28 and September 09, 2020 for interviews in Garching;
Flexible dates for interviews by phone
